[step into my office]
Who: minato, and. . . ???
When: day ???
Where: ???
What:
[when Minato exchanges his tokens for the Moon, he will suddenly find his entire world suddenly lurching around him. his stomach flips, a wave of nausea will overcome him, and everything around him seems to twist and turn and melt. . . it's a similar transition to the one everyone experienced when they were brought to the Inner Prison]
[and when everything comes to--]
[he finds himself standing in an office, with everything decorated in familiar shades of gold and blue. there seems to be another presence here with him in the form of a bright crescent of light located behind the desk. no matter how hard to tries to perceive the light, however, he simply cannot. whatever this presence is. . . it's beyond his ability to comprehend. staring at the light for too long will give him a headache. very eldritchy!!]
[what he can comprehend, however, is a voice]
Though my temper still simmers, I acknowledge that hard work should be properly rewarded.
Speak, Whatever. For now, my time is yours.
[that sure is the Warden! it sounds like she's pulled herself together since her outburt, at least]

He's already got a headache from the transition, and trying to look at said light just makes it worse--ultimately, he ends up swallowing a few times to try to keep his stomach from flip-flopping more, and stares at the desk instead. ]
... Oh. So that's how it is.
[ he supposes that makes sense for the Moon!
But uh. He did not prepare questions for this moment!! ]
Um... are you doing okay?
[ Minato: spends 10 tokens to ask the Warden if she's doing alright. ]
no subject
[judging him slightly]
[and then, primly--]
I have been better.
no subject
Ah... I'm sorry to hear that. Is there anything I can do to help?
no subject
There is not. I prefer not to accept. . . "help". . . from humans.
no subject
I see... okay then. If you say so, Warden-san.
[ a beat. ]
Wait--is there a better name that I can call you?
no subject
[. . . Minato is unable to parse the name. he can hear it, for a definition of-- "hear?" but the syllables are completely incomprehensible, just like the light. more eldritch!!]
However, as I understand humans are unable to comprehend my title, I suppose you may refer to me as the name of my current vessel.
Shelley.
no subject
Ah... okay. Shelley-san, then.
[ ... ]
Do you mind if I ask... Is this place related to the Velvet Room?
no subject
It is.
no subject
... Are you an attendant?
no subject
[she's answering his questions, but she sure is not. . . elaborating]
no subject
Huh... you just seem so similar to them. Your style and how you look... it's just like Elizabeth.
What are you instead? You're part of the Velvet Room then too, right?
no subject
Sister--?
[and then the light stabilizes, and the Warden growls out her next reply, clearly displeased]
I am not. I am merely borrowing its power.
You may consider me a god.
1/2
2/2
You're... borrowing it?
Where's Igor-san? I can't imagine he's okay with all of this--
no subject
Who. . .?
[does she really not know Igor or did she just not take the time to learn who he is, mystery for the ages]
no subject
Ah... poor Igor-san...
Okay, I think I get it a bit though. So I guess I'll change gears, and--um. What does our rehabilitation look like to you?
no subject
What a strange question. Perhaps I should posit the same inquiry to you?
no subject
[ so it's fair to wanna know what that looks like!!! ]
I don't think anyone here really needs rehabilitation, so... it's hard for me to answer that. I guess--finding a place where everyone's happier and more content with themselves and their lives...?
no subject
"Everyone". . . there is no room for "everyone" to be happier and content. One individual's "happiness" will inevitably cause another's misery.
no subject
... "Inevitably"...? It's true that that can happen sometimes... but I don't think anything about it is inevitable. The more we all learn and grow... "rehabilitate", even, if you want to use that word--the more likely we can avoid that sort of thing.
no subject
Humans care not to learn about that which is different from what they know.
Humans will always lash out, and kill, and destroy, that they cannot understand.
no subject
... Is that what happened to you?
no subject
Mine and I need a place to call our own. A place far away from the destructive force of humans. Without vessels of their own, I must prepare suitable alternatives for them.
I make no apologies for utilizing you and the other Inmates for this purpose.
no subject
... I'm sorry that that happened to you, and to them. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that I'd like for our companions to get out of this with a safe place to live too.
... But have you asked them? If they want to be in our bodies forever, like this?
no subject
And perhaps, if I am able to create a place where mine and I can exist without being hunted, then she will. . .
[. . . she trails off]
no subject
"Then she will"...?
no subject
At any rate, I suppose that is a long-winded answer to your question. "What does your rehabilitation mean to me."
no subject
You know, Shelley-san... you're not very good at answering questions.
I do appreciate the effort, though.
no subject
You ask ridiculous inquiries.
Is there anything else you desire?
no subject
think, minato, think!!! ]
Um--wait. You mentioned a "she"... who's that"?
no subject
She is no one important. Do not concern yourself with it, Whatever.
Is there anything else you desire?
no subject
Mm... can I ask just a little bit more?
Why... are some of the games so bad? How does that help anyone--even yours?
no subject
It is necessary for my rehabilitation.
no subject
no subject
It is simply a part of the process. Pain and agony. . . it is all a part of life, just as much as joy and happiness are, correct?
[a very indirect say of saying "yeh it's the strong emotions"]
no subject
Mm... okay. I thought it was something like that.
[ he's quiet for a moment, hesitating, before finally: ]
I hope... you're able to find happiness with her, Shelley-san. I really do.
no subject
We are finished here. I shall return you to where you came.
[the world is starting to lurch again; any last words, Minato?]
no subject
[ ah... he's out of time, isn't he? He pushed his luck a little too much.
A brief pause, Minato squinting through the brewing headache behind his eyes at the way the world shifts and lurches. ]
--We'll find a way! To help your children, and your love. I promise...!
no subject
[that statement is met with a loud shriek, which eventually tapers off into a very snake-like hiss. the world lurches around Minato, and when he comes to. . . he'll find himself lying in his bed in Cerberus]
[it seems like he was only gone for an hour, at the most]
