The room you enter this time is an ostentatious fortune tellers tent. Colourful silks drape the walls with intricate golden constellations embroidered on the ceiling. Various crystals, candles, magic 8 balls, and other superstitious sundries are scattered throughout the tent.

In the centre of the room is a table with ten chairs around it, and three cards laid out for you:

HIEROPHANT, STRENGTH, SUN

I'm sure if I knew what he did or who he was my memory would better reflect it! Unfortunately, we didn't have a lot of other options...

Even the general looked more impressive. Though he was also a terrible person.

What general?

[ she's wondering if she sort of forgot if a general existed on campus in her memory ]

Oh, I might the general from my world.

Oh, does that mean he was...impressively terrible? N-not in the way you'd want to emulate but in that it was very fierce and awful!

[mountanoffensive]

Well, at first he seemed to know what he was doing. He was a good fighter. Or at least that's what we heard. We never really saw him until the end. But yeah, I'd say letting a war go on for decades because you don't want to die is impressively terrible.

That is terrible! And it seems rather counter productive to me!

How could continuing a war do anything but increase death and destruction?

[mountanoffensive]

He knew that to stop the war, he had to kill the part of himself that was attacking everyone. But it would kill him too. So he just let people keep fighting.

...I'm sorry, I don't think I quite understand. This is probably another magical thing.

It's really hard for anyone to understand. Basically, he split himself into one beings. Some stuff happened involving a princess, and then the general tried to kill his other half. After that, his other half went crazy and turned himself into a monster. And waged war on the general and all humankind.

W-while I still don't think I understand all of it, what I've gotten sounds very horrible! He should have taken responsibility for his monster side instead of making all of humankind suffer. Does this include the centaurkind too?

[mountanoffensive]

Yeah, the humans and centaurs used to work together. So the war affected everyone.

[briarliar]

You said that it was over though, i-is that what your memory was part of? The fact that you and Rider and the rest of your family would finally get to spend your days in peace?

[mountanoffensive]

Oh, that memory's from when I used my backstory magic on the Nowhere King. I thought it would freeze him in place permanently. But it also meant I was stuck inside his memories. That's how I learned about him and the general.

Ah, a memory within a memory about memories...

Is your backstory magic like what these cards do? Um, show the past I mean...?

Kind of. Except I have to literally jump into people for it to work. It's kind of scary. And it sort of paralyzes them while I'm seeing the memories.

It sounds scary. A-and unpleasant for everyone. I hope if we have to do more of these memory sharing tasks it will stay with snowglobes and fortune cards.

[mountanoffensive]

You don't really feel it when it happens. That's what Wammawink said, anyway. She actually liked it. It's probably stranger for people watching.

M-maybe it's different because Wammawink and you like each other and don't mind sharing secrets? Like a magical hug with both parties having acceptable imaginations...

Maybe. I think Wammawink just gets very excited about magic. Even terrifying magic like this.
